focal point: a 'focal point' is the part of the photo that grabs you eye first or the object that the photographer wants to stand out from the rest of the photo. http://www.focalpointphoto.co.uk/ a simple explination of what a focal point is.
John Hedgecoe (b.1936) is one of Britain's leading portrait photographers. He is also the world's best-selling writer on practical photography, having sold some 9 million books worldwide. This display is a part of a widespread showing of Hedgecoe's work to celebrate the publication of his book Portraits. It presents a selection of 23 photographs (including several in colour which are not in the book), on public display for the first time.
i think this is a simple set up in the photo. just in a room maybe in either the models or photographers house, with some lighting on her face and the wall behind her.
in this picture i thin the focal point is simply the woman in the picture, it is the first thing i see in the picture. however it could also be the acrobatic woman on the wall in the background, there for it is a bad picture for focal points because it doesnt have one for sure focal point in it.
i personal don't like this picture because its rather boring and not very original.
i generally dont like john hedgcoe's wrk because i find it very dated and not very inspiring.
