A Summary Of Annie Lebovitz

  • Style- annie lebovitz has several different styles of pictures. one is a very complicated set up of lights sets scenes and costumes, such as her disney pictures, they look like thay have taken a very long time to set up and edit (add cgi). they are very cramped pictures with alot going on however she still maages to make the focal point the celebraty in the image.
then there is the portraits she did of the queen and keira knightly and iggy pop ect. these are very simple but all very effective and beautiful to look at even though its just the person and possibly a single prop.
  • she is a very innative photographer, and very creative. she is very skilled at taking cramped but also simplistic pictures. she is not very traditional at all.
  • Technique- her main technique is to one, take pictures of very famous people in costumes of characters such as sleeping beauty ect. another one of her tequnics is to take a picture then add lots of CGI to create a fermiliour scene to acompany the costumes such as the the sord in the stone.
  • Narrative- in her photos she is very good at telling a story through it, she uses a compination of costumes and set designe, so it is easy to see the story however in her portrates there is no fancy scenes or complicated costumes only the person and a simple background, but she still manages to create a story with the other modles she uses in the picture and the lighting and the face expretions on the persons face.

this picture shows her use of story telling without useing costumes of sets. it just shows her pure talent without without any fancy effects.

assignment 4 annie leibovitz pictures

this is a group of images by Annie leibovitz. some belong to the the gorup of images she took of famouse people, such as the iggy pop, angalina joile, keira knightly and sylvester stallone in the boxing ring. however the one in the middle is the only one of its kind that i can find, but it is encreadbley interesting and delicate while being strong and artistic.
theses photos are set up in many different ways, for instance the man flipping and the picture of a boxing ring both show strong men and they are very effective strong pictures where as the picture of iggy pop and angilena joile are very simplistic pictures, there is not alot of stuff going on in the picture, its just them and a simpley plain background or setting. finally the keira knightly picture fits in with the sylvester stallone picture because both of them are set up scenes that take a long time to do, and they both tell a story.
i like these pictures alot because they are all strong unique pictures but all in different ways. they are intresting to look at and look like they have taken alot of time to captuer. i also like how in the sylvester stallone picture is very clutted and crowded but she manages to make it work and not look cramped.

Annie Leibovitz assignment 4

Annie Lebovitz is one of the most famouse photographers at the moment. she offten takes photos for vougue magazine. she has photographed anyone who is anyone such as John Lennon, queen elizabeth II, Keira Knightley and Bill Gates.

i have chosen Leibovitz as my independant reasearch because she is a very good photographer aqnd i find her work interesting and enspiring. i find it very easy to talk about her work as i havent found one photo that i dont like yet.

i think that hedgcoe and speers work rather boring all appart from speers birthday party but there is not alot to talk about in them. perous work is good but i just personally dont like it as much as leibovitz's work.

depth of field assignment 3

depth of field: the 'depth of field' is how far back the picture goes, the amount of distance seen between the nearest and furthest object in the picture. http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/fototech/htmls/depth.html, this explaind what it means in detail with good and bad examples of it.
this picture whas taken by 'Annie Leibovitz' one of the most well known female photographers in the business at the moment.
this is a photo is part of her portraits of celebrates. im not sure who it is in this picture because it didnt say anywhere and i couldnt see his face well enough.
this picture uses lots of light on the water and femaile models to make them look vety pail. although the man is in the back of the picture, the fact that he is the only man in this picture and that her is the inly fully dressed person in this picture makes him stand out and the focal point of the picture. the depth of field in this photo is very big and deep, it goes all the way from the closest lady at the front to the horisen/ land in the very back of the picture.
i like this picture because its interesting, although there is alot going on it doesnt look cluttered or need simplifying.

a simply slide show explaining what depth of feild is, (some of the writing is hard to see)
